==Reading the level scheme from an AGS file==

Rachel requires that most fields in the .ags file be filled in with the typical data types. For example, if there is whitespace where a number is expected, errors will occur on loading. This could give an "Unknown error reading level scheme." due to incomplete error trapping in the present version. Be sure that the .ags file has all fields entered, or delete levels that are not completely defined.

===ENSDF .ags level scheme files===

The ENSDF library of Radware level schemes has many examples with different-parity states within one band (as bands are named in the level scheme file) or with two or more states of equal spin in the same band (name). In addition, levels may have whitespace for unknown spin assignments, etc.

In order to use these level scheme files, the user must move equal-spin and different-parity states to different bands. If this is too keyboard intensive, a Rachel format ascii level scheme can be created, e.g.
