The required libraries for Rachel can be installed by navigating to Yast-->Software Management in the OpenSuse menu bar:

# matplotlib and pylab: matplotlib comes with the pylab library in opensuse. If you prefer to use the source code, go to [http://matplotlib.sourceforge.net/] and download the source code.
# pygtk: navigate to "Yast -> Software Management and look for "python-gtk".
# numpy: navigate to "Yast -> Software Management and look for "python-numpy".
# pango: navigate to "Yast -> Software Management and look for "pango".

Once these libraries are installed, open a new terminal window and invoke Rachel. This is usually done by typing either
# [path].rachel.py or
# [python] [path].rachel.py, where [python] is the desired Python 2.6 or 2.7 environment
